Heimlich Menudo
Published November 30th, 2007 in UncategorizedHeimlich Menudo is a fictional anthropomorphic leopard villain in the animated television series Tale Spin. He appears in the episode Vowel Play. His name is a pun on the Heimlich Maneuver, a name he also chose for his master plan to steal all the diamonds in Cape Suzette (see below). He was voiced by Kenneth Mars.
Menudo was a gangster with an Italian accent who loved diamonds above all else, to the point that he had all his teeth removed and replaced with diamond ones, so that when he smiled he had a glittering grin. He wanted all the diamonds in Cape Suzette, and to this end he had his henchman Weazel (whose name must not be pronounced weasel, but “wee-zell”), trick Higher For Hire into skywriting secret messages to all of Heimlich’s henchmen throughout the city in a grand scheme he called the Heimlich Maneuver.
The Heimlich Maneuver involved holding Cape Suzette hostage with a fleet of hydrogen blimps and forcing the citizens to hand over all of their diamonds to Menudo, or else the blimps would bomb the city. Menudo was able to keep in contact with the blimp crews (or so he thought) through skywriting secret messages.
Baloo got wind of Heimlich’s plans thanks to Detective Thursday, and, despite his poor spelling, managed to write fake messages to fool the gangsters. Both Heimlich and Weazel were arrested by the police after their helicopter equipped with a diamond-tipped ramming nosecone crashed into the bay.
In a humorous turn, Menudo at one point accidentially starts choking on a diamond in front of an oblivious Weazel while both are in his office. However, Menudo manages to perform the Heimlich Maneuver on himself.
