USS Jack

Two ships of the United States Navy have borne the name USS Jack, named in honor of the jack, (any of various fishes—young pike, green pike or pickerel, or large California rockfish).

  • The first Jack, (SS-259), was a Gato-class submarine, commissioned in 1943 and struck in 1967.
  • The second Jack, (SSN-605), was a Permit-class submarine, commissioned in 1967 and struck in 1990.
